Manu Collection

Grandma Ruth was an amazing seamstress. She could see a style on Michigan Avenue in Chicago and the next evening she would have the dress ready to wear out dancing – sometimes her uncle, who lived with the family, would run out to pick up the finishing touches for her. This story and many others inspired me to sew, and is probably why I love the styles of the 1920s and 30s. Demure yet provocative, transformed by innovative fabric technologies and fueled by a new confidence, American women and their wardrobes were more glamorous than ever. With attention to detail, richness and depth, the Manu Collection offers stylish accessories with sophisticated color, pattern and texture. Always on the hunt for rare or out of production vintage textiles and findings, and unique ethnic specialty fabrics, the collections include silk, local wool, organic cotton, and leather, as well as fabrics that have been hand-dyed or graffiti printed in the studio. Utilizing antique buttons, vintage Lucite handles and elegant trims, and layering color and texture with surprise and whimsy, these thoughtfully designed fashionable accessories stand apart from the mainstream. Celebrating the quality, beauty and history of vintage textiles and notions, the Manu Collection offers handmade designer handbags and fashion accessories that work throughout the seasons and from day to night.
